The LSG Hydropower Project, a significant Endeavor in the energy landscape of Pakistan, has achieved a pivotal milestone with the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Indus River System Authority (IRSA). This development marks a significant step forward in the project’s progression towards realization.
The journey towards securing the NOC commenced with a formal letter submitted by the LSG Hydropower Project team to IRSA on November 15, 2023. Following diligent efforts and extensive consultations, a crucial meeting was convened at the IRSA Headquarters in Islamabad on January 17, 2024, to deliberate upon the issuance of the NOC for the 470 MW LSG Hydropower Project.
During the meeting, representatives from LSG Hydropower Project, in collaboration with the Provincial Energy Development Organization (PEDO) team, delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the project’s scope, objectives, and environmental considerations. The LSG team adeptly responded to queries and comments raised by IRSA Chairman and Members, demonstrating the project’s viability and adherence to regulatory requirements.
After thorough deliberation and review, the LSG Hydropower Project officially received the NOC from IRSA on February 14, 2024. This endorsement from IRSA underscores the project’s compliance with regulatory standards and its alignment with broader national objectives for sustainable energy development.
The issuance of the NOC heralds a new phase of progress for the LSG Hydropower Project, paving the way for further advancements towards construction and eventual operation. With its capacity to generate 470 MW of clean, renewable energy, the project holds immense promise for contributing to Pakistan’s energy security and fostering economic growth.
